Sometimes things just happen and no matter how hard you try to fix them, things just don’t turn out the way you would like for them to. And that has happened to us with our Cycle Ranch Race.
Here was the dilemma. Cycle Ranch scheduled us to race on their torque track which is a roundy round type track with jumps. After a long conversation with the manager, we realized that we will not be able to give them the sufficient numbers of racers they need to cover their costs for us to come race on the main track and shut the park down for us. Then there also seems to be a big oil boom going on in the South that has all of the surrounding hotel rooms booked up for several months with employee’s, so if you don’t have a camper, you were going to be hard pressed to find a place to stay. We tried to reschedule the race, but there were too many conflicts in both schedules to make it work.
Then the TQRA held a race several months back that was cancelled due to weather. Their make up race was scheduled the same weekend as our cycle ranch race. Several of our riders tried to attend the first race and got rain checks instead of being paid back. We then called the President of the TQRA to try to combine both groups into one race. This was not a workable solution either for the track is in charge of any race they have – not the promoter. In the end, the promoter will get paid by the track, not the promoter paying the track. At our last race, quite a number of our riders told us they would be attending this race.
So unfortunately, we will be dropping this next Cycle Ranch race from our series. This will not affect the point standings. There will only be nine races in the series instead of ten.
We have never been to this Oakhill track before, but we have heard nothing but good things about it. We encourage our riders who want to go and race to give it a try. It sounds like SORP will have quite a few riders participating in it! The information about the track and location can be found at oakhillmx.com, and they even have a link to all of the TQRA race information on the website that gives you all of the fee’s, schedule, and camping information. The TQRA president did tell us that they will honor our members by charging their member prices for our riders. ($35 first class, $25 for additional classes). The track itself is located in Decatur, Texas which is North of Dallas. If you should decide to go, please check out the TQRA class list and qualifications (www.txatvracing.com) for they are somewhat different than ours.
Again we apologize for the cancellation but we will get right back on track with our next race which will be held at Cornerstone the weekend of July 30th and 31st. And as usual, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you know where to reach us!!!
