Well here we go, round eight of our Fast Track Series is just 5 days away!! Here is the racing information you need to know before we get there:

Friday:

The gates will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Due to the low turnout we have had in the past as far as camping goes, they are going to enforce the gate hours for this race, so if you know for a fact that you are going to come in and camp on Friday night, then you might want to call three palms before Friday and make arrangements with them to get in.

Saturday:

Gate hours will be from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Practice will start at 10:00 a.m. and run until 3:00 p.m on the main track. We will start off with Big bike, little bike practice until everyone has had a chance to get checked in and settled, then we will go to a sticker practice.

Registration will be inside the scoring tower from 1:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m. If at all possible, please come and register of Saturday so we can start everything on time on Sunday. C class riders, we will be offering the 16 – 24 class again to help ease some of the congestion in this class, but be prepared – we may have to enforce the qualifying heat runs if our numbers run over. The heat rules are in our rules and regulations for this series so whip out the rules and get familiar with them.

Tech. Insp. will be from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in front of the scoring tower.

Sunday:

Gates will open at 6:00 a.m.

Registration and tech Insp. will be from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. up at the scoring tower.

Riders meeting will be at 8:00 a.m. in front of the scoring tower

Sticker practice will start immediately after the meeting, with racing starting right after practice. Please be prepared and ready to go for we will follow this schedule as close as we can.

We will have the snow cones for sale inside the scoring tower along with all of the raffle tickets. Remember at the end of our next race, we will be drawing for the shoei helmet, $250 gift card, and the X box with Kinect so if you have not purchased your tickets yet, now would be the time to do it!! Only two more races left!

Also at registration I will have banquet tickets available for those of you who did not get them at the last race. Anyone is invited to attend, you will just need to come get your tickets from me so we can get a head count on how much food we will need. The tickets will also be used for the door prizes. I will also be handing out information on our Winter Challenge and we have a few surprises for you on that one we think you will like!! So when you come to registration, plan to spend a few minutes with me!

Well until then, have a great week and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to e-mail me or call!!! sorp2009@yahoo.com or 936-537-1863

As our series comes to a close, we have alot going on to finish out the series with that you need to be in the know about!!!!

1) North South Race

This race will be held on September 24th & 25th in Kemp, Texas which is located just South of Dallas, Texas. It will be held a track that has not let quads race on before so it will be new to all of us and the TQRA riders!!! In this months newsletter (which you can get a copy at registration) there is an information sheet that has directions to the track and website, the schedule, fee’s, and any other information you need to know about the race. To find out the classes and rules, visit the TQRA website @ www.txatvracing.com. This is a chance to race against people you have never raced against and earn some bragging rights along the way! Guaranteed to be a good time!

2) Fast Track Quad Series Banquet

October 8th is the date set for our Fast Track Quad Racing Series Banquet. It will be held at the Lake Conroe KOA Resort in Montgomery, Texas in the Grand Ballroom @ 7:00 p.m.. It will be free of charge to anyone who would like to come, dinner will be served, door prizes will be given away, and plenty of awards to all the winners! So that we may get a head count of how much food to prepare, we are asking that you get your tickets from Jan when you come to register for the races. They will be available from now until the last race, so take a head count and pick up your tickets today. All of the information about the banquet can be found in the newsletter this month also!

Speaking of door prizes – we are asking all of our riders if you know of someone who would like to donate a door prize for the banquet please let Jan know. We will take anything and it doesn’t have to be quad related! From kids to adults, the more we have the better!

3) 16 – 24 class

Have had alot of riders interested in the 16 – 24 class, but no takers so we have come up with a plan to get you motivated to ride! Check out the 16 – 24 class post in the forum to find out the details and let me hear back from you!

4) Southern Lights Challenge

Lastly, we mentioned to you last month about Danny and I are working on getting some winter races put together and we are putting the finishing touches on it now and working on lining up the tracks for us to race on. The schedule, rules, and any other information you need to know will be available at the next race at Three Palms!!!! It will be somewhat different from our regular series, these will all be one day events – practice in the afternoon and racing at night so it should be alot of fun and definitely cooler we hope!!!!

Sometimes things just happen and no matter how hard you try to fix them, things just don’t turn out the way you would like for them to. And that has happened to us with our Cycle Ranch Race.

Here was the dilemma. Cycle Ranch scheduled us to race on their torque track which is a roundy round type track with jumps. After a long conversation with the manager, we realized that we will not be able to give them the sufficient numbers of racers they need to cover their costs for us to come race on the main track and shut the park down for us. Then there also seems to be a big oil boom going on in the South that has all of the surrounding hotel rooms booked up for several months with employee’s, so if you don’t have a camper, you were going to be hard pressed to find a place to stay. We tried to reschedule the race, but there were too many conflicts in both schedules to make it work.

Then the TQRA held a race several months back that was cancelled due to weather. Their make up race was scheduled the same weekend as our cycle ranch race. Several of our riders tried to attend the first race and got rain checks instead of being paid back. We then called the President of the TQRA to try to combine both groups into one race. This was not a workable solution either for the track is in charge of any race they have – not the promoter. In the end, the promoter will get paid by the track, not the promoter paying the track. At our last race, quite a number of our riders told us they would be attending this race.

So unfortunately, we will be dropping this next Cycle Ranch race from our series. This will not affect the point standings. There will only be nine races in the series instead of ten.

We have never been to this Oakhill track before, but we have heard nothing but good things about it. We encourage our riders who want to go and race to give it a try. It sounds like SORP will have quite a few riders participating in it! The information about the track and location can be found at oakhillmx.com, and they even have a link to all of the TQRA race information on the website that gives you all of the fee’s, schedule, and camping information. The TQRA president did tell us that they will honor our members by charging their member prices for our riders. ($35 first class, $25 for additional classes). The track itself is located in Decatur, Texas which is North of Dallas. If you should decide to go, please check out the TQRA class list and qualifications (www.txatvracing.com) for they are somewhat different than ours.

Again we apologize for the cancellation but we will get right back on track with our next race which will be held at Cornerstone the weekend of July 30th and 31st. And as usual, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you know where to reach us!!!

Just wanted to write a quick note to everyone about how much we enjoyed watching everyone race at Skeeter Mx!

When we arrived there about three weeks before the race, we were sceptical about if it was going to be ready in time. Then when we hit the practice weekend and they still were promising they would be ready for us, Danny and I put in high gear and steadily stayed on top of them until we arrived Friday Afternoon. We realized that not having a race out there for three years, that it was going to be a major task to pull off, but the workers at the track kept to their word and produced an awesome track for us to race on. I for one had to comment on the radios that I had never seen such excellent racing – for our riders were doing things I had not seen all season! It was truly exciting to watch.

I really want to thank all of our volunteers that have helped us along the way with pulling off this season we have had so far. Without you I could not accomplish what I do!!! It is such a wonderful feeling that all I have to do is ask and it is done.

I also want to take a moment and thank each and every rider who participates in this series. We work very hard everyday behind the scenes to try to give y’all the best tracks to ride on and to be as fair as we possibly can with all situations that arise, and I have to say that each of you have made it all worthwhile for all the work we do. When we get down and feel we are beating our heads against the wall, we can count on you to pull us back up and make us fight a little harder!! As a rider, you go through so much more than Danny and I could ever possibly imagine – especially in the heat of the summer like this!! It is not a cheap hobby by any means, but our riders are a dedicated bunch!!

I should have all of our next race info posted by next week so keep checking back often. Until then, keep drinking lots of fluids, get those bike parts fixed, and we will see you at the next race.

Thanks again for everything everyone!!

Took a drive up to Alvin last Saturday to check out the track at Skeeter MX and made sure that we were ready to go. They are steadily working to make sure that everything is ready for our next race!! Just a few track adjustments and we are set!

We scheduled a pre-practice on Saturday, June 4th starting @ 10:00 a.m. The charge will be $15.00 per rider, and you can practice as long as you like. He has said that if you would like to camp there Saturday Night, he will not charge for Camping and he will open it back up for practice on Sunday if he has enough riders to participate. Sunday’s practice will be his call.

The address of the track is 5011 Hayes Lane, Alvin, Texas 77511 for those of you who need to google it and find the best route for you to go. While we were up there, we did check out the hotel situation for those of you who would like to stay overnight and there are several places available. In Dickinson, you have the Days Inn located on I 45 and FM 517. In Alvin, there is the Knights Inn in the heart of Alvin, and The Roadway Inn and Suites on Hwy 6 and I 35. The Alvin hotels are probably the closest to the track.

The park does have electrical spots, but we don’t remember seeing any water at the spots. They will charge $15.00 per night for primitive camping and $20.00 per night for an electrical spot. The electrical spots will be on a first come, first serve basis. They do not take reservations ahead of time. The electrical spots are 30 amp. They also have a restroom facility that has two showers each in the ladies and mens bathrooms, but the copper tubing was stolen so he will have them fixed by the race weekend with PVC – cannot guarantee hot water! Or maybe there will be hot water to at least one of the showers in each.

No pit riding will be allowed.

Race weekend (June 11th and 12th)

Think that about covers everything. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or e-mail us. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and we will see you on the 4th!!
